Offlate in last 3 decades we encounter many confusing pictured ailments – the reasons of which are obscure, with no really effective treatment protocols and patients go pillar to post in clueless manner -still suffering .Even the treating doctors get a confused picture.Regretfully many of these are autoimmune or neoplastic, affecting any/ multi system of the body.
In my experience if the reason is Viruddhahara, then withdrawal from the same for 4 weeks makes good relief from symptoms.Improvements are found in 2 weeks itself by avoiding such food practices. If NO relief for 8 weeks , deserves reevaluation clinically in diagnosis precision or therapy change.
Some of them are as follows and have been verified by clinical experiences
Sour tasting food substances when taken along with milk are incompatible. Same applies for sour fruits plus milk. Drinking milk after taking vegetables like radish is incompatible.
Its fairly common in some parts of Kerala to have milk shakes with ice cubes in it with sour fruits + milk .Highly unhealthy.
The following items/practices are ”To be avoided ”combinations, or else chances of allergic reactions and long term health hazards are high due to this
Black gram soup with radish
Monkey-jackfruit(artocarpus hirsutus) with any one of 5 items black gram soup, molasses, milk, honey and ghee. Jackfruit is widely used in kerala , declared as official fruit of the kerala state
Banana + butter milk , banana + curd ,banana + palmayra { Nongu in tamil and south kerala ,Ice-apple in British English } fruits
Ghee kept in bronze vessels upto 10 days
Intake of payasa (pudding) with Sura (beer) , this is a possibility in late dinner parties
Taking mushroom (Agaricus campestris) cooked in mustard oil .
Combination of equal quantities of two, three or all among 5 items – honey, ghee, marrow, oil and water are viruddha(incompatible). eg honey + ghee in equal quantity is bad for health.
In short, food substances which provoke dosas but doesn’t expel them out of the body are known as viruddha (incompatible). The person who takes viruddhahara should be subjected to either of sodhana (eliminative) therapy or samana (palliative) therapy with herbs which are qualitatively opposite to such viruddhahara (incompatible food regimen). Early refinement of the body with such [qualitatively opposite] herbs is also recommended. A qualified Ayurveda physician can easily help a patient on the above mentioned lines.
